A scammer will quickly focus on the deposit. They will say things like:
- It's only $100, if I were a scammer, I would ask for more.
- They will undoubtedly throw religion into the conversation, stating that they are Christian and would NEVER steal from anyone
- You can visit our facility after you secure the deposit
- We have MANY clients that want this dog. You must make the deposit quickly or I will sell to another cleint
NEVER NEVER NEVER send any money until you have verified that the person you are dealing with is legitimate.
---------------------------------
We do ask for a deposit at AKCyorkies.net. However, that is only after you are comfortable with us and, preferably, have met us face-to-face (Or at least a facetime)
Asking for a deposit is standard business practice. However, focusing on that deposit early into the conversation, and insisting on that deposit often is a huge red flag!
Insist on a phone call! A scammer will stall when asked for a phone call. They are ALWAYS busy and "cannot take a call at this time, but I can tonight". If it feels suspicious, it almost certainly is
---------------------------------
AKCyorkies.net will schedule a call within 8 hours of your request (We do both work full time jobs, so cannot always do the call immediately).
David's phone number is 520-504-7798
Alex's number is 440-497-9564 (Alex speaks Spanish and a little English)
A scammer will NOT allow you to visit them. They will claim that you can visit after making the deposit, but rest assured that once that deposit is made, they will not contact you anymore!
---------------------------------
You are always welcome to visit us in our home to meet the parents and/or your pup. You can also visit throughout the process until you are ready to take your new family member home.
